I’m seeing separate smaller charges on my statement after ordering through Drizly. What is this for?
In specific states like Washington and California, state tax laws require online marketplaces, like Drizly, to collect taxes on behalf of the seller or retail partners in our case. By collecting these taxes during the transaction, we then remit them directly to the state separately.
This is inconvenient, why isn’t it one seamless transaction?
We understand your concern, and this is a great question. Our goal is to make every order and transaction as seamless as possible and having separate charges on your statement can be inconvenient and confusing. We’re working with our credit card processing partners to find better solutions to do this separation of taxes on our end, rather than on yours. Rest assured that you are not being charged more than originally calculated at the time of order.
Why am I seeing 2+ separate charges on my card for my order?
For legal reasons, with the sale of alcohol, the transaction for the items you purchased goes directly to the retail partner and not through Drizly. If you have purchased items from more than one store, each location will have its own transaction. The additional transaction for service fees does go to Drizly to improve the market place and provide new services.
Please note: There is the possibility of a card authorization at $0.00 or $1.00 when you upload a new card that will drop.
